LETTER TO FAMILIES REGARDING CORONAVIRUS SAFETY
TO: All SPS Families
FROM: Dr. Adam Cash
RE: In-Home Safety
Hello Everyone,
We hope that you and your loved ones are safe, healthy, and coping well. This letter is intended to outline our policy regarding in-home sessions and our safety requirements. As things begin to open back up, albeit in a limited manner, it is critical that proper safety precautions be taken in order to insure your safety and the safety of our staff.
Here are the requirements for both staff and families:
STAFF
1. Staff MUST wear masks (and preferably gloves as well) during sessions.
2. Staff must wash their hands upon immediate arrival to the home.
3. Staff are required to wash their hands thoroughly at least once per hour.
4. Staff must answer NO to all three of the following questions before they can go to a session:
a. Are they experiencing any symptoms of COVID19?
b. Have they been around anyone who has tested positive or is experiencing symptoms?
c. Have they been around any groups of people larger than 3 without proper social distancing (6-feet)
within the past 2 weeks (with the exception of their own families and the families they work with)?
5. Staff will wear different clothes for each session and will wash clothes during the session before wearing
them again.
6. Staff are NOT to bring anything into the home such as bags, folders, toys, supplies, etc.
7. Staff are NOT to take anything with them when they leave the homes such as toys or supplies.
8. Social distancing (6 feet) should be maintained as much as is realistic and possible from other people in
the home other than the child being worked with.
If these requirements are NOT MET, we will develop and implement a corrective action plan. If corrective action cannot be taken then sessions will be stopped and either switched to VIDEO-BASED PARENT TRAINING or services will otherwise cease until safe conditions can be met.
FAMILIES
1. When engaging with Staff and when they are in your homes please do the following:
a. Please wash your child’s hands immediately before the session.
b. Have the child wear a mask if possible. We know this is not likely but we can try.
c. All other family members in the home wear a mask during the session.
d. All other family members maintain proper social distancing from staff during sessions.
e. All other family members wash their hands before, during, and after the session.
2. Please clean and disinfect the areas and materials the staff are working in and with before and after the
session. If sessions are outside, then do your best to keep the equipment, toys, etc. as clean as possible.
3. Families must answer NO to the following questions before staff can come to the home:
a. Is anybody in the home experiencing any symptoms of COVID19?
b. Has anybody in the home been around anyone who has tested positive or is experiencing symptoms?
c. Has anyone in the family been around any groups of people larger than 3 without proper social
distancing (6-feet) within the past 2 weeks (with the exception of their own families)?
4. If anyone in the home is still working in a setting around people where social distancing is not doable,
then please let us know.
We will be asking staff and families to answer a “checklist” with these items at least once a week but ideally before each session. It will be sent by email and as a text attachment. Please answer the questions on the checklist and send it to Dr. Cash at drawcash@hotmail.com or text it to him accordingly.
If these requirements are NOT MET, we will develop and implement a corrective action plan. If corrective action cannot be taken then sessions will be stopped and either switched to VIDEO-BASED PARENT TRAINING or services will otherwise cease until safe conditions can be met.
We know and recognize that these requirements are stringent and difficult. We simply want to keep your family and the staff safe and healthy. We appreciate your cooperation. These are difficult times. By working together to keep each other safe we can continue to provide these much needed services to you and your child.
Thank you for continuing to work with us. We are doing everything we can to insure that services continue and that your child continues to learn, grow, and develop.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me by email or by my cellphone number (951-990-3470).
Thank you,
Adam Cash, BCBA-D, Psy.D.
